Razocarenje

Great hotel with a few drawbacks
A really fantastic hotel and resort! The hotel isn’t new, but most of it is very well maintained. It has large, beautiful gardens, a long beach, and stunning sea views. Sun loungers are spread out around the pools, throughout the gardens, and along the beach, so you don’t end up packed together like sardines, as is often the case at other resorts. If you want some peace and privacy, you can easily find a quiet spot. There are plenty of sun loungers, even during peak season, so there’s no need to fight for them. Besides the three swimming pools available to everyone, there’s also a huge adults-only spa with several saunas, relaxation rooms, a hammam, and an outdoor bubbling pool and a nude sunbathing area. The beach is pebbly, and the water is beautifully clear. There’s plenty of marine life to see, including lots of little fish, crabs, live shellfish, sea urchins, and what I think were yellow corals. Make sure to bring water shoes or flippers! The rooms are spacious, the beds are comfortable, and we had a beautiful view of the gardens and the sea from our balcony. As we were celebrating our wedding anniversary, we were welcomed with romantic decorations and a bottle of sparkling wine. A really lovely gesture! The food at the main restaurant, Jardim (breakfast and dinner), is generally very tasty. I also recommend the Asian restaurant, Spice. There are tons of activities for both kids and adults throughout the resort, which is quite unusual for Croatia. It actually reminds me more of the huge resorts you find in Turkey or Egypt. Sports activities (Pilates, yoga, cardio, aqua aerobics), sauna rituals, bowling, billiards, a gaming center, tennis, padel, two gyms, a water sports center, an open-air cinema, live concerts on some evenings, and plenty of activities for children throughout the day. There’s really a lot to do!
Unfortunately, the service was frustrating on a few occasions. Once, we waited over an hour for a club sandwich at Aquapura Bistro. On another occasion, I asked a waitress at breakfast what à la carte dishes I could order, and she basically said she didn’t know and just walked away (I’d ordered Eggs Benedict the day before). There was also a constant shortage of watermelon at breakfast. Considering how popular watermelon is during the hot summer months, there really should be more than just one plate of watermelon slices. It would disappear within a minute, and then we’d have to wait another 10 minutes for someone to bring out a new plate. Restaurant reservations were another frustrating experience. At check-in, I asked how far in advance we needed to book the à la carte restaurants (you can dine at these restaurants instead of the main restaurant as part of the half-board package). I was told that booking on the morning of the day we wanted to visit would be perfectly fine. However, just a little while later, I tried to make reservations for the following two days, only to discover that Planika had availability at 6 PM only (a bit early for a hot summer evening), while Spice was already fully booked for two days ahead! The receptionist promised to try to get us a table at Spice and assured us that someone would contact us the following day between 11 AM and noon. Of course, that never happened, and we had to follow up twice more about our reservation. Eventually, we managed to have dinner at both restaurants. By the way, I find it really strange that Spice, the Asian restaurant, is only open three days a week in the middle of the summer season, especially since it’s clearly very popular. I definitely wouldn’t recommend Planika restaurant. It’s in a lovely location right by the beach, but unfortunately, the food is pretty disappointing. For starters, we ordered the Dalmatian Board.
