    Short but sweet,sweet, sweet!

    The house and gardens are lovely with a huge dining room where all thirty-three guests were able to relax and share meals together in front of a roaring log fire. The kitchen was well equipped for catering for large groups with enough glasses, cutlery and crockery not to have to wash up while the three dishwashers were working! Huge fridges accommodated all the weekend’s goodies. The pool was awesome and entertained the children and adults for hours with synchronised swimming and games! The decoration in the house is beautiful with thick curtains adding to the cosy atmosphere. The beds were super comfy and everyone slept well.

    The most difficult thing was the check out time of 11am on Sunday. This was a weekend booking which amounted to little more than one full day’s stay! Almost half of my guests work on Fridays in London or the SE and getting to the house at 4pm on a week day was impossible so for them the trip lasted about 38 hours. Even those of us who arrived by 4pm would have enjoyed the house for a maximum of 43 hours rather than the 48 hours of a normal weekend stay. Fortunately, Group Retreats responded to my request for a later check out and we were able to leave at 1pm. 4pm would have been a full two days and felt more like a weekend away! The sofa bed in the largest room (2) was broken and would not fold out. A small thing, complete list of everything provided would have been helpful as we brought kitchen roll for instance but it was supplied whereas salt and pepper were not.
