Beautiful and quiet, a perfect little getaway!
Such a beautiful area, the lodge was incredibly quiet, very comfortable and lots of thought put into small details. We really appreciated having cleaning clothes and tea towels as well as a hand towel in the bathroom. Fantastic communication with the owner at all times and felt nothing was too much trouble. Instructions for the hot tub were superb, although the long matches were nowhere to be found. Happily we had a rocket lighter for our bbq and we got the fire started fairly quickly and the water heated up. It was easy to keep warming it back up after the initial big heat up.
A few too many cobwebs inside at the windows for our personal liking, to be expected outside being in a forest location but inside could do with an extra big dust or hoover. Beds are a smidgen snug for anyone on the tall side, but very comfortable mattresses and bedding.

The cottage was charming, atmospheric – really great!
I didn’t like the fact that the hot tub wasn’t even filled with water, and it was dirty. You have to pay an extra £40 to have it heated in advance, and they use the starter firewood you’re given, which means if you arrive and the tub is already heated, you’ll need to bring your own wood right away. Unfortunately, the cottage itself wasn’t clean either - the windows were literally covered in cobwebs, as were the walls… it clearly hadn’t been cleaned in a long time. 😑
