A Night Surrounded by Notoriety!
The villa is located up a rather steep path a short walk from the centre of Baile Govora. It consists of a three storey building containing the restaurant and guest suites, a separate treatment area and tables in the courtyard and garden. Other accommodation in the village may be more luxurious but, for historical reasons, this is the one to choose. I decided to book the best that the villa could offer so chose the most expensive suite (reasonable at just over £100.00 for the night.) An initial seating area containing furniture actually owned by the Ceaucescus led to two bedrooms, a bathroom and absolute quiet. Elsewhere in the villa, photographs showed the Ceausescus amusing themselves in happier times. The proprietor told me she had worked there when it was owned by the first family and that Nicolae was a super guy! (I heard similar compliments, particularly when staying in his home town of Scornicesti.)
The village is difficult to reach by public transport (I took a taxi from Pitesti around one hundred kilometres away rather than negotiate the complexities of local transport.) There was not a particularly wide choice for breakfast. Staff do not speak much English (though most travellers are familiar with Google Translate these days.) I surprisingly found the villa a little gloomy and in sharp contrast to the opulence of the Ceausescu residence in Bucharest. Nevertheless, I would certainly recommend a stay if only for esoteric reasons.

Locatia mi-a placut foarte mult.Este liniste,mancarea foarte buna si la preturi corecte.Mic dejun inclus si diversificat.Personalul este prietenos,camerele curate.Vom reveni.
Parcarea exterioara ar putea fi amenajata mai bine in viitor.In rest totul este bine.

O escapada de doua zile foarte reusita.
Mic dejun foarte bun, diversificat si consistent. Amplasarea vilei este foarte buna, aproape de tot ceea ce poti vedea in Baile Govora.
Totul mi-a placut, de la amplasare, confort si, mai ales, comportamentul personalului.
