    Very special experience and I will be back

    Beautiful property and wonderful staff

    We stayed in the traditional rooms and some furnishings and curtains need replacing

    Gracious service in a historic but relaxed hotel

    Gracious and accommodating staff. Excellent food (we had dinner and 2 breakfasts). Relaxing onsen. Beautiful gardens. Facilities are clean and tidy. Great location. I had stayed once before, maybe 25 years ago. The food and service were as wonderful as I had remembered. I took my mom, who spent much of her adolescent and early adult life in Matsuyama but had never been to Funaya. She loved it.

    Some fixtures in the room looked a little dated, but everything is well maintained and clean, so no real complaints
