⭐⭐⭐ Stylish Atmosphere, Great Food, but Room for Improvement
⭐⭐⭐ Stylish Atmosphere, Great Food, but Room for Improvement I stayed at Generator Amsterdam on my own and really enjoyed the overall atmosphere. I upgraded my stay and paid more to have privacy and sleep in a pod. the common areas offer plenty of space to work, relax, or unwind after a busy day exploring the city. On a very positive note, the restaurant and bar were excellent! The food was delicious, the drinks were great, and there was plenty of space to sit, work, or relax. This was definitely one of my favourite aspects of the stay. Overall, Generator Amsterdam has a great concept, stylish pods, and fantastic social spaces. With more comfortable mattresses, better service, clearer communication and more hygiene supplements and care it would become even better.
However, there are a few areas that could be improved to make the experience more comfortable. The pods look nice, but unfortunately, the mattresses are very thin and not particularly comfortable. The showers are cleaned, but they can still be dirty, and there are no basic cleaning supplies available. Providing simple cleaning products and tools would allow guests to clean up after themselves when needed. The bathrooms and showers also lack practical storage space and hooks for clothes, towels, and personal belongings. A designated area where guests can comfortably apply makeup, dry their hair, and get ready would make a big difference. Another important point is that period products should be freely available to women. Providing essential hygiene products would be a thoughtful and inclusive way to make female guests feel more comfortable and welcome. One issue I experienced concerned the tourist tax. I was initially assured that there would be an easy arrangement for local residents who do not need to pay tourist tax. However, the process turned out to be more complicated than expected, requiring me to share additional private documents afterwards. Clearer communication and a smoother process would be greatly appreciated. Local residents should be treated fairly and respectfully, with clear information provided from the beginning.
