It's okay if you just need a bed for 1 night
We stayed in the hotel for only one night because we wanted to do a 7am snorkel the next morning. For this purpose the hotel was fine. The hotel is in a good location, very close to the Harbour and directly at the beach. The room was quite cosy and well laid out. It had a little living room area (couch, couch table, and TV) next to the bed. Our first floor room (2nd floor US) had ocean view (though mostly obstructed by the terrace roof). The staff was accommodating, holding on to our luggage (We arrived early before check-in time). This gave us the chance to explore the Gilis.
There were several things about the hotel itself that I think could be improved: - Overall the place was a bit worn down. Some facilities are in need of renovating. - The water in the tap and shower left me feeling salty / sticky. I wonder if the tap water is sea water? (Though this might be a problem on the whole island. in that case it's of course not the hotel's fault) - bedsheets had old stains (they were washed; just discolorations) - no toilet brush available - The air conditioner was quite loud. - From 11pm-4am there was party music playing somewhere close by. It did keep us up at night (and we planned to get up at 6 for snorkeling, so we only got about 2h of sleep). This is also not necessarily the hotels fault, but it still affected our stay in that location. But the most annoying part was the staff. After we arrived we sat down to have a drink and decide what to do while we wait for our room to be available. We only had a short time available on the Gilli's and wanted to make the most of it. The whole time the staff was hovering, listening to our conversation. When they heard us say that we wanted to check out the other island (Gili T) they started telling us that we shouldn't do that and we should stay on Meno. We explained that we will snorkel from Meno the next morning which is why we want to explore the other islands today afternoon (not entirely sure why we were even put in a position where we had to start justifying how we want to spend our holiday to the staff...). They then started trying to convince us not to do that and pushed that we should get one of their boat tours instead. We tried to end the conversation (since we preferred to make our own plans). Then the girl went and got her boss telling him that we wanted to go to Gili T, and then he also came over and started having the same discussion with us again, ignoring any signs of us trying to end the conversation.
