La propreté , le confort du logement , la situation dans le quartier de Gion
L'absence de rideaux au premier étage , la lumière du petit matin nous a souvent réveillé.

Gorgeous but not 2 bedroom
Gion Jizo is absolutely stunning - the photos don't do it justice. The location is amazing, a bus ride from Kyoto station and in the middle of one of the most interesting parts of Kyoto, with plenty of convenience stores, a supermarket, excellent restaurants and sights within easy walking distance. Much bigger than most Japanese accommodation, almost a house.
By Western standards this isn't a 2 bedroom apartment. There is one room containing two single beds, which has no door, only a curtain. Additional sleeping is on a futon(s) in the living room. Pay attention to photos/floor plan, not written listing. There is also a very bright fire exit light above the stairs - this is clearly for safety reasons but if you're on a futon upstairs it's impossible to sleep without a sleep mask, which was hard to find in Kyoto! Additional instructions about how to fill the bath etc would be appreciated.

A great place to stay for a family, with proximity to all that you want and need in Kyoto
The location is great - bus stops right there, lots of shops and restaurants but it's very quiet, down a private alley. The home is well equipped, a two story layout with a small balcony. Lots of space to gather as well.
There is only one bedroom and one bathroom. Upstairs where the kitchen is there are 2 Japanese beds (on the floor) that you roll out at night. It's a very good layout for a family or 4 friends that don't mind the set up. All of us are in our late 60's so after a while it was a bit of a challenge.

Perfect location, modern renovation, easy to access.
The accommodation was very nicely renovated but felt very much like home. We were very comfortable there. The location was perfect, right near alot of the major tourist sites in Gion and surrounded by lovely food. The host was very easy to contact and responded to us immediately. Check in and out very simple.
A tiny negative - we stayed with a 2 year old and the stairs were steep with no hand rail. However, the top floor has a door you can close therefore they cannot access the stairs without you. It's not a problem at all if you are just traveling with adults.
