Beautiful and spacious house in an excellent location
Daniel is a great host. He was very responsive, addressed our questions immediately and communicated important information in advance without us having to ask. The house has an excellent location and its own private parking. One side faces the ocean, while the other offers views of Stapafell Mountain and Snaefellsjokull. There are also balconies on both sides where you can sit and enjoy the different views. The living room, dining area and kitchen form one large, open and spacious area. The bathroom and shower are a reasonable size, and the two bedrooms are of comfortable size. There is also an additional bed in the loft, although the stairs are narrow and steep, so you need to be careful when going up and down. The house is within walking distance of the Arnarstapi cliffs, Gatklettur sea arch, the Stone Bridge, the Bardur Snafellsas monument, the harbour and the other main areas of the village. The beautiful coastal trail from Arnarstapi to Hellnar is approximately 2.5 km each way and makes for a very enjoyable walk. There are also a few restaurants around Arnarstapi. We used the house as our base for exploring the western part of the Snæfellsnes Peninsula. Raudfeldsgja Gorge is approximately 6 km away, while Budir and its famous black church, Budakirkja, are around 20 km away. Snaefellsjokull National Park is also within a short drive, with attractions such as Londrangar, Vatnshellir Cave, Djupalonssandur Beach and Saxholl Crater along the route. Olafsvik town is approximately 23 km away, while Grundarfjordur town and Kirkjufell Mountain are around 50 km away. Overall, it was a very convenient and peaceful base for exploring the Snaefellsnes Peninsula.
The pillows were limited and felt quite flat, as though there was very little filling left. The towels also seemed a little old and could perhaps be replaced. The queen-size bed was too soft for me, although this is, of course, a matter of personal preference. There were also quite a few crane flies around during the summer. They have long legs and look a little like flying spiders, but they are harmless. You just need to make sure the doors and windows are kept closed to prevent them from entering the house.
