  Authentic, spacious, but with moisture and mold

  Spacious house in an authentic, quiet setting (aside from occasional dog barking at night). Upon arrival, wine and water were provided as a welcome gift (though I didn’t consume them due to the circumstances). The owner was very friendly and helpful at first.

  Due to a flight cancellation, I didn’t arrive until late in the evening on August 2 instead of August 1, and because of the dampness and the smell of mold in the rooms (the second room with the bunk beds was particularly bad), I could only store my clothes in the bathroom. The next morning, I called the landlord to tell him that I couldn’t stay under these circumstances, whereupon he brought me some odor-neutralizing sprays and a dehumidifier. Since I had booked the entire month of August (30 nights) and was expecting my boyfriend, I still wanted to try to stay there, as I had paid a lot of money. Over the next few days, I thoroughly cleaned the room where I slept because of the persistent odor, washed my laundry (which I had left in the bathroom, since it was the only place with less of a musty smell) as well as an upholstered piece (which had mold stains), and left both outside to air out. After five nights, I was already feeling almost sick, so I decided to move out despite everything. I immediately informed the landlord, who came right away and seemed very accommodating. He offered me fresh bed linens and also showed me his second house ("Silver House"), which was located on the same property right next to the “Golden House,” but I was afraid I’d find the same conditions there, so I wanted to play it safe by staying at a hotel in Angra. After cleaning the house one last time, I left around noon. Despite repeated calls from Booking (in English and Portuguese) over the following days, the landlord insisted on keeping the entire amount (30 nights, even though there was no reservation for that period) and wrote me a message telling me not to contact him. In Angra, I also lived in a house, among other places, but there wasn't a mold problem there.

  Localização e vistas.

  A casa está pouco equipada. Tive de comprar toalhas de mão pois não havia nenhuma. No entanto, a falta de limpeza foi o pior. O sofá onde o meu filho dormiu estava cheio de bichos mortos por baixo e havia bolor no chão. Na primeira noite acordou com um bicho nas pernas. Surreal!

  Peaceful and relaxing

  Love the location and the views. The area was quiet except for a couple of dogs.

  It could have used a couple more fans or even ceiling fans to move the air.
