    Not recommended

    The home was spacious, and had most of the expected amenities. There was street parking available around the location, but I wish the host had made clear that it's free street parking all around.

    The host's communication was very bad. I asked a month ahead about getting an extra bed, and got no response from the host, not even a note they were working on it, even with sending a few messages asking for a response, until I called them via phone a day or 2 ahead. Everyone else has asked for passport information, and this owner never did. I wasn't even sure we had a room until that phone call. We requested an extra bed, which is possible per Booking.com's site and they were unable to provide it. Additionally, the person I called didn't have a Portuguese phone number, and it was out-of-country in Belgium. I asked to delay check-in until late in the day, and the host advised me that they charge a fee for every hour past the 2 hour check-in window, which I do not believe is per Booking.com's policy. The person who met us at the booking was a relative of the owner, who made it clear that while he would be addressing any issues, we were to contact the host who is not local. The owner also charges a $100 cleaning fee for staying at the property, which is far above what was charged by other places we stayed in Portugal, AND there were pests in the kitchen. I would never stay here again and would not recommend it to a friend.
