Stay at Guy Fawkes Inn
Perfect location, lovely accommodation with real air of history and homely feel. Staff were attentive when required and very friendly. Very difficult to find any minus points so I won't. Highly recommend this as a place to stay in York if you like something with a charm that corporate hotels cannot match.

Charming, would definitely stay again.
Suite 14 on the top floor was amazing. Very quirky, comfortable and with some very low ceilings that you'd expect in such an old building. We loved the experience.

Would not go back!
The room was lovely as expected.
The room was lovely as expected but up a large flight of stairs (20) which my husband struggled with. There was no mention of my request for a ground floor or any assistance for him. Breakfast - if having full English as my husband did, it was fine. Otherwise as a pescatarian, not so good. Dinner - we only had dinner the first night - poor for us both. Also couldn’t read menu in dining room without phone torch as it was too dark! Bathroom door was very stiff to close/open. Decor - apart from our room, all public areas require an overhaul and painting. It is very dark and unwelcoming as soon as you enter. Invasion of privacy- Hotel staff show people around your room when you are not in! We only found this out when they knocked to check if we were in as they had someone with them wanting to see the room. That person didn’t come into the room as were were both in. Whilst ok to show someone around when I am in is fine should I agree, it most definitely is not right to do so if I’m not in the room..
