Standard, solid HI with friendly staff
I rate hotels by what they are trying to do. A Hampton Inn can get a 4, and the downtown Chicago Hilton can get a 4 from me. I judge on what they are trying to do, not what they have. This said, a solid stay. Staff were friendly, the room clean, parking ample and safe, and what I saw of the free breakfast it was the standard HI breakfast. The hotel is at the airport, literally. If you don't have a vehicle, you can actually walk in about 3 minutes to the airport. This property is a few mile drive to the restaurants, so walking to eat is a tough go. FYI, they are building a new Hampton a few miles away. We stayed her twice, coming into the area and a week later leaving, both times were consistent.

Will Not Return
First let me say that this trip was not for pleasure as we came to Montrose for a funeral. We were very surprised to see the room rates were doubled from what we had previously experienced but our son told us it was “high season”. Never-the-less we were hopeful that it would be pleasant. We were wrong. Check-in was perfectly fine. Upon entering our room on the back side of the first floor, we discovered that we had been “dumped” into a very small area. Everything was clean including the bathroom. However, the area was so small that we barely had two feet to walk between the end of the beds and the furniture. There was only 1 chair and no microware. We were booked for 3 nights. We wondered if we had been given less then desirable accommodations as a result of reserving through Hotels.com? The “free” breakfast was routine and certainly nothing to rave about. We skipped the last two mornings and ate out. Overall, we are rating this unfortunate experience as a 1. Not to be repeated!

Great sleep and stay while on work in Montrose
The hotel was wonderful. The automatic blinds were a very nice touch and made it easy to block out all the sunlight in my room compared to the horizontal blinds that always let some in. It was nice not having to dig through my bag to charge my phone as they have a wireless charge cradle you just need it aligned right and a green light will come on along with a beep from your phone. The room was quiet and clean. I slept much better than I do in most hotel rooms and it was nice being able to walk to/from the airport given the amount of delays these summer storms are causing. The front desk were always staffed by kind and helpful people and I only had great experiences in my interactions with them.
