  Best apartment we've stayed in and we've stayed in alot of them.

  We've stayed in many apartments in Japan, Korea, Australia and NZ but this by far was the most cosy and best appointed. It has everything we could think of. All credit to Julia for her thoughtful design, provision of amenities and beside being super helpful and friendly. There's also helpful directions and recommendations in the apt itself - so helpful. You can holiday within the apt. It gives new dimension to "small is beautiful"! The apt's location on a hill meant that you could look down at Sakamachi street from the verandah. Aka, it is so near and you can walk/eat/shop and then stroll back to a safe and considerate neighbourhood. We will surely visit Otaru again - for the accommodation, shopping and food (glorious seafood)!

  We didn't mind that it was on a "steep" slope but it would not be suitable for the non-ambulant or physically challenged.

  A perfect stay in Otaru

  I had previously stayed in another apartment on the 8th floor with the same host, and this time I stayed in the 1st-floor apartment. Once again, I had a very comfortable and relaxing stay. The apartment has a nice view of the harbor. I really enjoyed having coffee on the balcony in the morning and a cold beer there in the evening. There is a coffee machine that grinds whole beans and makes fresh coffee, and the beer glasses are even kept chilled in the freezer. These thoughtful little details made the stay even more enjoyable. The apartment was spotlessly clean, and the shower had excellent water pressure. The toilet is equipped with a bidet seat, and the queen-size bed was very comfortable. I was in Otaru for work, but it was a wonderful place to relax after a long day. The kitchen is very well equipped and has almost everything you need for cooking. I also appreciated that Japanese rice was provided in the refrigerator. Parking can be arranged nearby if you reserve it in advance. Mt. Tengu Ski Resort is very close, and Kiroro, Sapporo Kokusai Ski Resort, and Niseko are all within about a 90-minute drive by rental car. This would make the apartment a great base for a ski trip as well. Instead of paying the higher prices at the ski resorts, I would recommend enjoying dinner in Otaru, where there are many good restaurants and the seafood is especially fresh. Overall, I was very happy with the cleanliness, facilities, location, and comfort of the apartment. I would definitely stay here again the next time I visit Otaru.

  We spent 4 weeks in Hokkaido in August 2026, across 12 different accommodations. In that time 2 glaringly stood out as being above and beyond the others, Heart of Otaru being one of them. The condo is nicely presented to make it feel like you are at home rather than an accommodation. So many thoughtful touches from the usual toothbrushes/toothpastes through, to good quality toiletries & washing liquids for the washing machine, with plenty of pegs, airer and space on balcony to dry clothes easily. Kitchen fully stocked with everything you would need to make cooking easy if you chose to with good sized fridge. Even the crockery was good quality and beautiful to use with thoughtful side dishes and little plates for any occasion. There is a view of the port the balcony is a great way to start the day with a morning coffee listening to the frogs nearby. The location is excellent, just a brief walk down the hill to the old town and nearby canal plus a 15 min walk to the train station to easily access Sapporo for a day trip. With some great food options nearby too. It was a real struggle to leave 😊

  위치, 친절함, 시설 모두 좋았으나 어떠한 이유인지는 모르나 침대시트가 새것으로 교환이 안되어 문제를 제기해 교체함.

  離小樽主要商店街非常近，房間內設備齊全，重點是附有免費停車位，主人相當親切，以這個價格來說真的非常推薦 電視還可以看Netflix ，不用看無聊的日本新聞，超級棒
