Lovely rural location with footpaths and heritage sites to explore
The location was great and very peaceful, with no dog noise and just the occasional tractor. We didn't mind the cottage being at the end of a dirt track because there were lovely views of surrounding hills and woodlands, and there were several footpaths nearby so we could start our walk from the door. The A2 was not that far away, so it was handy for us to get there and to travel to Canterbury etc, but we didn't hear any noise from it and the road was not that busy. The kitchen was fairly small but newly decorated and clean, and well equipped for everything we needed. The washing machine (with laundry liquid provided) was handy to freshen up some of our clothes, although there were only 6 pegs so we couldn't do a big wash and hang many items on the line. The lounge was comfortable and we appreciated the selection of visitor and walking guides, and books to read. The downstairs bathroom was spacious and it was handy to have an extra loo. The upstairs shower room (with a second loo) was very compact and I think that if someone had mobility/balance issues they may have some difficulty squeezing past the loo to manoeuvre into the shower, and may have to use the downstairs bath with shower attachment. The local village pub in Kingston was great and serves good food. There is a shop and post office a couple of miles away, in the next village at Barham, and a bakery, farm shop and cafe in Bishopsbourne, so we had some amenities close by if we wanted them. We enjoyed our holiday in Kent and would recommend a visit to the Deep Shelter/wartime tunnels at Ramsgate, where enthusiastic volunteers provide tours to explain how the tunnels were developed and used during WWII air raids. We also enjoyed a cliff top walk from St Margaret's Beach to South Foreland Lighthouse (and cafe), and visits to Canterbury and Rye.
The main problem which desperately needs fixing is the mattresses on all the beds: they are very saggy and not very supportive at all. I could feel the tops of the metal springs digging into my hip and leg at night so I had a disturbed sleep every night. In the end I folded a bath towel to provide some extra cushioning under my hip. We also could hear the person in the next cottage having a wash and moving about at about 6.30 in the morning and again at night (their bathroom must be right next to the headboard in the main bedroom of the cottage so it could probably benefit from some soundproofing in that area), but other than that we didn't hear any noise from next door. I thought it was a little bit expensive for what it was: we have stayed in similar - but larger and more comfortable - properties for less than this. The property description said 'No pets allowed' which is why we chose it, however the blankets in the lounge definitely smelled of dog, and as my husband is highly allergic to dog hair I gave the blankets a wash in case it turned cool and we needed to use them.

This is such a beautiful and secluded cottage nestled on the edge of Covet Woods. Perfect for a restful stay.
Secluded and a very romantic setting for the start of our honeymoon. Tastefully decorated and apple and pear juice provided by the owner’s orchard.
Nothing.

Great countryside stay for peace of mind and unspoilt guests
Location was wonderful, totally beautiful, genuine countryside, with leaves turning and mellow light in evening and morning. Loved it. We could light a nice fire every night, the hosts had provided wood for more than 3 evenings. We walked to the Black Robin pub (the only one in truly walking distance) only to find out that they were fully booked on that night. Went back the next evening, but always took the car. Bathrooms were good (the upper shower and WC is really small but very useful), the lower one really nice. New appliances, very good water pressure). Kitchen was very suitable, there was coffee (liked it), chocolate (loved it!) and tea (if you fancy infusions rather than green or black, bring some with you). Beds were comfortable, although the twin beds in the small bedroom are really narrow). The carpet upstairs was welcome. All in all - if you're not too spoiled re space and you long for countryside - that's the perfect spot. Great spots for dining within 10' of driving (went to the Black Robin - loved it, the Duke of Cumberland - good Turkish cuisine, The Pig in Bridge - very good! Canterbury is quite near (20' by car or faster if less traffic), the shop in Barnham (5' by car) has fabulous bread ('bestest' ever), visit Leeds Castle for a comprehensive Castle experience, although quite expensive to visit. Also very good for families with children. Just dive into this experience, you'll like it.
Parking was convenient, although some gravel/non-slippery stone steps to the house would make a big difference. Also, there's no light coming from the parking to the house - that would be really useful. The road to the house is a country road, so, potholes, narrow, dark at night :-). Just FYI

Excellent, very peaceful, lovely cosy cottage, fully enjoyed our short vacation.
Secluded location, very peaceful, great place to get away for a few days or more. Lots of text and email communication from hosts. Very nice complimentary items. Pear and apple juice made from locally grown fruits was our favourite. Furnished to a high quality standard.
Although communication provided by email was useful, sometimes annoying to receive the same information more than once. This maybe a personal issue or emails duplicated.
