A very comfortable weekend stay. Heartwood Barn is an authentic property with many lovely features.
It was a very peaceful location and had beautiful gardens. Plenty of parking. It was comfortable and there were some very nice touches including home made bread, eggs and bacon in the fridge. Communication with the host was very easy.

The decor was lovely and in keeping with the beautiful barn conversion. I loved the doors. The bedrooms were spacious and beautifully presented. The gardens were pretty, sculpted and well kept. There were several seating options around the grounds with different views of the garden and land. Ann and Ian were wonderful hosts. We were welcomed with a homemade loaf, eggs, bacon, butter, milk and cupcakes. The kitchen was well equipped with modern appliances and absolutely everything else you could need. There is free WiFi throughout. A huge bathroom with a modern shower over the bath. Bathing products, soap, hand moisturiser and towels provided. Lots of lovely little touches everywhere, dressing tables, mirrors, trinket holders, a heart shaped chocolate presented on the towels. Beautiful bedding and comfortable double beds. I loved the shuttered windows and lovely Roman blinds. Plenty of parking. Guest book, leaflets and an information/instructions folder. A great base for rest and relaxation or for visiting surrounding villages. "Mayfield, Wadhurst and Battle are great places to visit."
There was not much I didn't really like but I'm happy to share my personal thoughts. The lounge area was smaller than I envisaged. Because I have a bad back I struggled a bit with the low sofa. I would have liked a four slice toaster but again that's just a personal preference. I didn't use the upstairs dining area or use the two breakfast bar stools. I think fold up TV dining trays/tables could be a great addition. The TV remote was a little bit temperamental but as I read mostly it wasn't much of an issue. If you stay in the main bedroom, expect some very occasional creaks from the floorboards upstairs, which is typical for this type of building; otherwise it is an exceptionally quiet setting. The hob is induction, so it's not compatible with people with pacemakers, like me. I prefer a pop-up lid bin rather than a push-in one. These are just a few personal thoughts and experience. I'm sure you'll love Heartwood and really enjoy your stay!
