    An elegant property that has a wonderful simplicity to it. The private onsens were gorgeous sitting in them looking out at the scenery and enjoying the privacy of our smaller one as part of our room. The food was plentiful and varied and served in elegant private dining pods with a central cooking area so you get involved ed in your own food prep.

    If I had to say anything and its hard it would simply be that you never get to chat with other travellers as the hotel is set up in such a way thats its v private. That's fine for lots of people though for me travelling is as much about where you are as well as meeting others and finding out little bits about their travels. As I said v minor coment.

    -The traditional style interior -The food portions -The lounge snacks and drinks available -How well thought out things were with respect to the overall experience like a milk coupon post soak, spatula for the hoba miso, towel warmer, and the kotatsu

    -The ventilation in the eating area, the grilling of the hida beef tended to blow towards one side

    I don't know we could have or that I ever have stayed anywhere nicer. I cannot recommend Hidaji more

    The staff were incredibly accommodating and welcoming. The setting and inn were beautiful and perfect for relaxation.
