3 star hotel for 5 star price, it doesn't look like on the pictures
Location was good, walkable distance to every interetsing place. Stuff was amazing and they gave amazing food recommendations!
The hotel has very good pictures but it doesn't look like that at all in reality! I am not sure how Michelin gave them a key. It is also not a 5 star hotel but 3 star hotel and way too expensive for what it is. The rooms were rather dusty and they had a very strange bathroom with the toilet standing in the middle of the bathroom which made it hard to use the sink. They have onsen on the top floor where you look into the windows of the neighbourhooding houses. So the hotel and price felt like a scam

Luxury ryokan-style hotel offering comfort,high-end service and amenities in best part of Kyoto.
Staff were very accommodating, dining area, outdoor bath was a bonus! pajamas and socks, size and shape of room were beautiful so well crafted and the amenities it offered, such as hot water kettle, refrigerator and stereo. We also loved the window treatments, the blinds and black out screen. Loved the location near historical sites and away from touristy crowds. Special bartender at night serving craft cocktails was a nice touch, such a nice person!
The one sink area in the bathroom was small for 2 people, but we adapted! Limited breakfast menu, and no other food offering during the day but eateries nearby.

A warm cosy Lux stay in a quiet neighbourhood close enough to the downtown buzz.
It was a cosy well appointed boutique hotel in a quiet area of North Higashiyama. We could walk to Gion, downtown to Kawaramachi on the left and Okazaki and the famous temples and zoo on the right of the hotel. The walks were lovely. The staff were warm and attentive to our needs. Service standards were high. Special thanks to Ogawasan for preparing us a wholesome and generous breakfast which served us well on our walks and climbs to a number of shrines on hilltops! Thank you for the conversations which we enjoyed absolutely. Till we meet again, arigatogozai masta.
