We enjoyed living in a central part of London in an authentic, idiosyncratic historic apartment.

The location is excellent for shopping, transport, sightseeing and for the sensation of living in central London. The cafe downstairs was very good - we breakfasted there daily. We were surprised that we didn't hear much noise from it and the road. We didn't use the clothes washing machine, but it was good to know it was there.

The master bed is still not fixed - the mattress needs to be replaced. We used a pillow to prop up the deep sag on one side. There's inadequate cupboard space - two closets are sealed and the one remaining closet has a coat rack that is too high to reach and is half full of drawers containing owner items, bedding and equipment. There's an electrical outlet at the foot of the toilet - ready for a 'flash in the can' perhaps? No toaster, but plenty of party candles! The dog flap in the bathroom could usefully be converted to an extractor fan. A trash can would be helpful in the bathroom. Lots of owner's personal items left around the apartment - soaps in the bathtub, after shave, gin, vodka, clothing etc.. We replaced the broken corkscrew. The uneven flooring wasn't surprising for a Victorian building - the leaning closet is secured by a wooden brace. The kitchen is small, but we barely used it given the cafe downstairs.

Stay away - filthy on arrival, lied to Booking.com, fake garden, no privacy, ghosted after checkout

Only the location - but for this price you can get a usable place.

Where do I even begin. Arrived at check-in to a genuinely disgusting apartment — dirty surfaces, completely uncleaned, no sign of a cleaner anywhere. I left and walked around London for two hours to give them time to sort it. Came back. Nothing had changed. The cleaner showed up at 5:30pm. I cleaned a table myself just to have somewhere to sit. I missed a work deadline because I had no usable workspace for hours. The landlord then lied to Booking.com — claimed I'd taken the key and prevented cleaning. They had given the cleaner a spare key themselves. Their own WhatsApp messages prove this. They fabricated a story to avoid accountability and it very nearly worked. The "garden" advertised? Completely overgrown. Unusable. There is a café attached to the property — you hear every conversation, every coffee machine, zero privacy. The apartment layout is baffling — cramped and oddly designed with no functional space whatsoever. And after all this? I left clothes in the washing machine by mistake and reached out to the landlord. Complete silence. Ghosted. Not a single reply. No cleaner. No contact. No garden. No privacy. No accountability. And a landlord who will lie to your face when things go wrong. Avoid at all costs.
