Beautiful Hilltop Home with Stunning Views & lots of Space
What I liked about the place The house is beautiful, spacious and relaxing, with everything you need for a lovely stay. The views are lovely, and we spent most of our time enjoying the deck. The location is also great, with the house sitting on a hilltop—hence the name—and Coolum Beach just a five-minute drive down the hill. From there, you have access to the beach, local shops, Coles and plenty of coffee shops. We also enjoyed taking a drive to the Eumundi Markets. Overall, it’s a great property in a lovely location with lots of potential. Despite a few minor issues, we had a lovely stay. The house itself is beautiful, the space is fantastic, and the deck is a wonderful place to relax and enjoy the view. We would definitely recommend it to others!
What I didn’t like about the place It is worth noting that the house is not suitable for anyone expecting to walk or stroll easily to the beach. The hills are extremely steep, so you will need to drive down to Coolum Beach. As it is a very popular beach, finding parking can sometimes be difficult. There are also a few things that could be improved to make future guests’ stays even better: Noise between floors: Sound carries quite loudly upstairs. Guests staying downstairs mentioned that even normal walking between the lounge room and toilet sounded like a herd of elephants above them, making it difficult to sleep. I’d recommend placing lighter sleepers upstairs and deeper sleepers downstairs, or adding rugs or other soundproofing to help reduce the noise. Cleaning equipment: The cleaning supplies and equipment are quite outdated and need updating. There was a bucket but no mop, and a suitable spray mop or combined sweeper and mop would be ideal for the timber floors. The vacuum cleaner is outdated and tends to stick, so a modern cordless vacuum, such as a wall-mounted Dyson, would be a great improvement. We couldn’t initially find the dustpan and brooms, as they were stored under the kitchen sink along with a handheld, battery-operated dust collector that didn’t work. It would be helpful to keep all cleaning equipment and products together in one designated cupboard and ensure everything is working and easy to locate. Cockroach: We found an almost-dead cockroach in our room. Hopefully, this was an isolated incident, but it’s worth mentioning. BBQ gas and bin liners: We had to change over the gas bottle for the BBQ during our stay. We were also provided with only 3 (small) bin liners for four days, which wasn’t enough, so we had to purchase additional ones ourselves. Providing a few extra bin liners would be appreciated. Coffee machine amenities: The listing photos showed a coffee machine and milk frother, but we couldn’t find the milk frother.
