Disappointing
Location
As a Hilton Honors member and frequent traveler who has stayed at Hilton properties around the world, I can confidently say that our experience at the Hilton Atlanta on Courtland Street was one of the most disappointing stays we’ve had. I expected considerably more from the Hilton brand. Let’s start with the room. Mediocre is putting it kindly. The accommodations felt more like a two-star budget hotel than a full-service Hilton. The bed was incredibly uncomfortable, the sheets felt as though they had been heavily starched, and the pillows were particularly deceiving. They looked plush and supportive but immediately flattened like pancakes the moment you laid your head on them. I slept terribly and woke up with such significant neck pain that I could barely move my neck. The bathroom was another disappointment. It was so small that you could barely maneuver in it, and the shower was a basic bathtub combination. Based on the photos I had viewed online, I was expecting a more modern bathroom with a walk-in shower. The actual accommodations certainly did not live up to my expectations. Unfortunately, the dining experience wasn’t much better. My husband and I went downstairs to Trader Vic’s hoping to enjoy dinner, only to be turned away as a party of two, without a clear explanation as to why we couldn’t be accommodated. We ended up dining at the hotel’s Southern restaurant instead. The food was acceptable, but nothing particularly memorable. The following morning, after a miserable night’s sleep, we visited the hotel’s marketplace for coffee and breakfast sandwiches. Once again, disappointing. There were insufficient basic supplies such as napkins and cutlery, the staff weren’t particularly welcoming, and the food was mediocre at best, especially considering the inflated prices. What makes this experience particularly frustrating is that we genuinely enjoy visiting Atlanta.
