    Die durchweg positiven Bewertungen decken sich in keiner Weise mit dem, was wir vorgefunden haben. Auf der Isle of Skye

    Die Lage auf der Isle of Skye ist schön. Das ist allerdings auch das Einzige, was hier stimmt.

    Negativ: Preis und Leistung stehen in keinem vertretbaren Verhältnis. Zu einem Drittel des Preises wäre die Unterkunft vielleicht durchschnittlich, zum verlangten Preis ist sie inakzeptabel. Im Einzelnen: WLAN: Am Anreisetag komplett ausgefallen. Auf unsere Meldung hin gab es statt einer Lösung zynische Kommentare. Zugang: Vor dem Haus stand dauerhaft Wasser. Man kam nur durch die Überflutung ins Objekt, mit nassen Schuhen bei jedem Ein- und Ausgang. Zustand: Die Wohnung ist veraltet und deutlich abgenutzt. Von einer Unterkunft in dieser Preisklasse erwartet man einen anderen Zustand. Bad: Die Dusche war nur teilweise funktionsfähig. Erreichbarkeit: Vor Ort war niemand ansprechbar. Die hinterlegte Telefonnummer führt zu Interhome in der Schweiz, dort lief durchgehend nur ein Anrufbeantworter. Auf E-Mails kam keine Reaktion. Bei einem Preis in dieser Höhe erwarte ich einen erreichbaren Ansprechpartner, gerade wenn im Objekt Mängel auftreten.

    Very nice, spacious cottage. Clean, very well equipped for self catering and there were some provisions stocked. Walking distance to the center of Portree. Can highly recommend it.

    The organization that rents out the cottage is strict about filling in forms with personal information and printing them.

    A lovely stay with surprising thoughtful welcome touches

    Absolutely warm, welcoming & gracious host (Mike). More than generously stocked kitchen & fridge, not just with cooking utensils, but several starter breakfast items, large bottle of water, milk, eggs, bread, bacon!, kitchen supplies (paper towels & plastic food wrapper. Those who prefer to cook in will appreciate the kitchen amenities. Don’t know whether it’s because we stayed 6 nights, but we got a surprise offer & received a large delicious & fresh seafood platter along with a bowl of potato salad from Mike’s family recipe. For us, it was an over-the-top experience. Mike also offered us a ride down to the main square on our departure. We also enjoyed the birds that visit the feeder outside the kitchen windows. We so appreciated all the thoughtful gestures and left gratuities that we hope more than cover all the extras.

    We’re very happy with our stay here & we have no complaint. Some info that might be helpful for planning purposes: the cottage is in a residential area behind the host’s house, not far from the main square. However, it’s uphill. Not a problem for those with a car. The walk is fine for those with just a carryon & backpack. Anyone with more luggage or mobility issue & without a rental car may want to consider taking a short taxi ride. The host was thoughtful in stocking the kitchen, so that guests don’t need to immediately make another trip to a grocery store.
