This was a beautiful classic estate home situated in a wonderful open property very near the town. Of course, the facility was classic as well, with century-old fixtures. I loved everything about that, from the skeleton-key locks on our doors, to the 'mile-long' bath tub. Also, each evening was greeted with foxes barking in the fields! The staff is actually the family who owns the estate, and have a long history with the property and the local area - wonderful stories!

IIntriguing, Comfortable, relaxing, friendly, and invigorating experience.
Fresh & delicious (English) breakfast. Locally produced sausages, farm fresh eggs, tomatoes & mushrooms. Really fresh fruit salad (not tinned). Cereals & delicious bread / toast. Percolated coffee or breakfast tea - hot, freshly made & plentiful. A great start to the day! This a beautiful traditional English country house in beautifully maintained grounds. Surrounded by woodland a truly tranquil natural countryside & forest. The house is lovingly maintained, clean, uncluttered, yet like a step back in time. This is not, & does pretend to be, a modern homogenous overnight stopover hotel, it is charming, traditional & beautiful. The proprietors are friendly, polite and caring. The whole experience of our stay could not have been more pleasurable. I would happily return if given any excuse.
