My colleague and I were on a business trip. We arrived at the hotel around midnight, and each of us was assigned a room as usual. A few minutes later, my colleague called me. It turned out that his room was flooded due to a burst pipe in the bathroom. Since the hotel was fully booked, it had no alternative room to offer him. With no other option available, he approached me and asked if he could sleep in my room for the night. Of course, I agreed, and we shared my room that night. How is it possible that a guest only discovers that his room is flooded upon entering it, when it is clear that the pipe must have burst many hours earlier?
