A very forgettable stay that will remain unforgettable for all the wrong reasons.
Vikram the room boy was helpful to a large extent. The
Firstly I did not know that the building did not have a lift. Climbing two floors to a very untidy Reception and a further floor up to the first level of rooms that too on a fairly steep stairway, was harrowing. Do that a few times a day for an assured visit to an orthopedician! Secondly, the access to the hotel is dinghy and dirty. Thirdly, this is not a hotel but a lodge. Fourthly, it is not worth half of what I paid. They could get away with murder only because it is high-season. Hence I was left with no option but to stay. Fifth, the road facing room we got was very porous to the continuous noise from the door below. And, I was told that this room was an upgrade 'to a suite room'!

Needs more caretaking.
Friendly staff. Free breakfast.
Bathroom way terrible: water didn’t drain, so it was constantly under water and got smelly. Bedroom had moldy wallpaper. Very noisy form the street (honking even late at night).

Pleasant stay.
The rooms were clean and tidy. Tho it can be a bit noisy since it is next to the road, and the constant honking doesn't help either but you get used to it. The staff were very courteous and helpful, helped us with the bags and always checking on our well being. The location is central and accessible to all major attractions of Kolkata. The staff speaks English & Hindi so you have no problem communicating. Overall, it's a good hotel for the price that we paid.
The breakfast took forever to arrive since it's outsourced from another restaurant outside the hotel, I believe. But they are generous and you can order as many as you want from the menu.
