This is a serious find. If you visit Kyoto, and want an authentic stay, this is the ryokan.
This was the best hotel we stayed at during our trip. It exceeded our expectations. Our stay was comfortable, relaxing, authentic, and if we could, we would have stayed longer. The staff was first-class, but the best, you can tell from the level of upkeep in the room (beds, furniture, bathroom, onsen, gardens), that there is pride in the property. The location was also very good, if you want an authentic ryokan experience in Gion. We will return.
Nothing to report.

For a 5 star hotel, i would expect more service and
Small boutique hotel in a top location
Difficult to communicate: the staff does not speak good english. After checking out, we had to leave the guest reception room, which i find a bit awkward.

A special experience in heart of Ginza.
Hotel Yuraku exceeded our expectations in many way. The room was spacious (we were on 3rd floor) and enjoyed natural filtered light with tree canopies. Our own onsen was superb and enjoyed at the end of a busy day. Hotel provide snacks throughout the day and happy our drinks. Centrally located amongst many temples and a short walk to many restaurants and shopping. Immaculately clean and lovely staff.
The “free” card system offered by hotel to value of Y1200 is only for wine /sake. Each pour is Y2000 which is a lot for very small portion. Happy hour provides wine. So for non wine /sake drinkers there is no value to this credit. Would be better to have smaller credit, more reasonable prices to include beer perhaps ice creams sold on site or towards spa treatments available. Doma Arigato Gozaimasu
