Beautuful Inn - a place to feel pampered.
The beautifully restored Fong Mansion common areas evoked the feeling of the splendid days of the past. The spa area looked luxurious, although we did not partake of the services, with a lovely common area, several massage rooms, a sauna, a steam room, and a "suite area" for couples massage with a huge two-person soaking tub. The Tranquility room was large, clean and well-appointed, including a fridge, but no microwave, a huge two-head shower, a soaking tub with salts, robes, in-room coffee a well as a coffee bar for the upstairs guests. The breakfast was a delicious, with a generous serving that will give the biggest eater a good start on the day. During our stay the two-course meal consisted of a yogurt and fruit parfait, soft scrambled eggs, and Bananas Foster waffles with apple sausage.
The parking is free but if the hotel had had more guests, I feel we would have had a challenge finding a space. The hotel and meal were very pricey, but it is a good alternative to the more expensive hotels closer to downtown. We had a challenge adjusting the room temperature as there is a central HVAC system with the only room control being the ability to slide the old vent open or closed. The bed mattress was nestled inside an oversized frame on which it was easy to bang our legs or possibly trip, as we moved around, especially during the night to get to the bathroom.
