  Four Nights We Couldn’t Wait to End

  The staff.

  For the prices this hotel charges, the condition of the property is frankly disgraceful. The carpets in the common areas were absolutely disgusting, with huge, dark, visible stains everywhere. It was extremely off-putting and made the entire hotel feel dirty and poorly maintained. The elevators were also so filthy that we chose to take the stairs every time, even when our room was on the sixth floor. We had an ocean-facing room, which should have been a highlight of our stay. Unfortunately, the terrace was so grimy and obviously neglected that it made us not even want to step outside. What is the point of paying for an ocean view if the outdoor space is too dirty to enjoy? Although the room itself was reasonably decently maintained, the separate WC had an overpowering, foul odor presumably due to its age and condition. We reported the problem to reception but nothing changed. The smell was so unberable that we ended up using the communal bathrooms in the public baths instead of our own bathroom. That is simply unacceptable. The WC clearly needs a complete renovation and modernization. The hallways were also left strewn with rubbish and dirty linen for hours during room changes. There’s a difference between stacking things neatly and leaving a mess for guests to walk through. Also the leisure area near reception was just grubby and uninviting. The staff were all genuinely lovely, friendly, and professional. They deserve to work in an environment that reflects the same professionalism and care they bring to their jobs. The problem is clearly not the staff, but the apparent lack of investment and attention to the property’s upkeep. We stayed for four nights and honestly couldn’t wait to leave. This hotel desperately needs a serious overhaul and a renewed commitment to basic hygiene. We found a room at Taoya Hotel practically next door, and the difference was night and day: an absolutely gorgeous property, sparkling clean, and our room with ocean view is cheaper!
