The Best of Bannockburn
Great location and plenty of space around, with green spaces, a large field, preserved as the battleground by National Trust, next to this centre and King Robert The Bruce statue, with more to discover! I liked the fact that it was easy to find and navigate to, avoiding any really busy areas which made for a less stressful journey. I even got to enjoy the sounds of a piper! What a bonus that was, making my trip towards the end of a road trip very enjoyable, and very Scottish! It really added to my experience, especially with the Bannockburn grounds there too. He was there playing for a group possibly a conference, and I got to appreciate it too! So much so that I had a wee dram to accompany! Good check-out time too and the house keeping lady I saw the next morning was so lovely, offering to help with the door as my hands were full; and reassuring me I had plenty of time to check-out (11am which was helpful with an energy limiting disability and always extra burden for me, with some anxiety around checking out in time and being respectful).I always have extra stuff due to looking after my health condition. Good parking facilities close by to the entrance. Very friendly hotel overall and felt homely and welcoming. I arrived a bit early so had Sunday roast which was lovely. The was able to check in to the room half hour early which meant after an hour rest I was able to enjoy a bit of the early evening and have a short walkabout nearby. Perfect!
I'm not sure if the room with the bar was the only dining area but when I arrived I was directed there for Sunday lunch. When I looked in the brochure once in my room it appeared that there were other dining spaces I wasn't aware of, so I might've chosen to have breakfast too and try the potato cakes in a possibly more ventilated room. As someone with a strict diet too and using a HEPA filter,I often don't eat out anywhere anymore but it would've been good to be aware of more options to be able to make an informed decision on this. Some artwork in the room would be nice perhaps some nature pics or something. It was nice though with good options for soft lighting with the lamps.
