    Fantastic house near Kyoto station

    Very authentic Japanese house and very good location near shops, restaurants and Kyoto station. And our host was very helpful.

    The house was spacious, had a lovely traditional atmosphere, and was conveniently located near public transportation. These were the positive aspects of our stay.

    Unfortunately, we were disappointed with the cleanliness and maintenance. There was an unpleasant smell throughout the house, both in the living area and in the bedrooms. Each of us received only one towel for four days, and the rubbish bin was expected to last for the entire stay, with no spare rubbish bags provided. Using the washing machine also required an additional payment. The most frustrating part was our arrival. We arrived at around 7:00 p.m., and the owner had assured us that the door would be open and that we would not need a code. This was not the case. We spent approximately an hour waiting outside in heavy rain, as the owner was unresponsive for quite some time and only later sent us the access code. We decided to stay in Kyoto for two additional days and would have been happy to extend our stay in this house if the conditions had been better. Instead, we booked another accommodation, which was the complete opposite — it had everything we needed, was clean, and smelled fresh. This was disappointing, as the house has a lot of potential.
