Nice place for city trip
Nice place in the centre of the city. Nice big room with all the facilities we needed.
A lot of stairs in total and sounds off the stairwell were pretty loud bearable, but that is what you get in an older house in the city;)

Short and sweet
The room is very nicely decorated. Perfectly clean and easy to access with guidance over text.
It's always a bit strange, though, to access somebody's property without meeting them in person but hey, that's how it is those days.

Two nights in Lille
The hotel is situated in a quiet street that is a short, flat walk from the centre of Lille. The period building is characterful with some interesting design features, notably the very heavy cast iron front door that requires my full body weight to push open! The room was generally well furnished.
On our first night we got into bed and I immediately noticed the duvet cover was on inside out. I could feel the rough edge of the seam on my leg, as it was also twisted so not at the side. We took it off, turned it the right way round and went to bed. I found the bed very firm and comfortable and the pillow thick and supportive. However in the morning my husband complained of a bad night. He showed me the mattress on his side (nearest the window) was collapsed, bulging out from the side and lumpy because of the broken springs. Also the only other pillow, on his side of the bed was thin and provided insufficient support. He said he folded it in half to try to make it work. I offered to swap sides with him for the second night, but even though I am smaller with a much lighter build than him I too found both the mattress and pillow quite uncomfortable. The mattress truly needs replacing immediately and two pillows like those that are there should be added to allow for choice. Other observations: the wall bracket for the hand held smaller shower head is missing so it is not possible to fix it in a position and you have to place the kettle at floor level to access the plug; a low box/table would improve this.
