Disappointing, Will try one of the alternate options on Cook Flat Road next time or even Franz Josef
Location and Room size/layout was good. Bed was also comfortable.
Felt like we were checking into an Air BNB remotely. Reception was unattended for most of the stay and we were sent instructions for check in. Room had mould and needed a decent air out, speaking to locals the hotel has recently changed owners and under new set up it has gone downhill. Only thing I can think of in defense of the hotel was that our stay was not in peak season, so the hotel is running "lean" during the off season to save some $$$, however the cracks do show through and as a regular at Motels across New Zealand this one felt below par.

Nothing couldn’t get there
The staff knew the road was closed but didn’t tell us, they have refused to repay my money, the property is dreadful, they were contacted twice and both times didn’t tell us that the road from Queenstown was closed due to a land slide and if you wanted to go via Christchurch it would have taken around 11 hours to Mt Cook only to find that road closed as well.

Everything I needed.
Nice big studio with large bathroom and spa bath. There was room for a lounge and dining area plus my luggage in the studio, and it still didn't feel cramped. Plenty of parking space and a 5 minute walk to town. Kitchenette had everything I needed. Good heater and plenty of bedding supplies. My bed was really comfy. Lovely to soak in the bath on a winters night!
