  Avoid, such a shame because the property has potential

  I really do not like leaving bad reviews, and this is actually the first negative review I have ever felt the need to leave. I would always much rather contact a property owner privately, explain the issues and offer constructive recommendations so that they have the opportunity to put things right. That is exactly what I did in this case, but unfortunately I was ignored. It was only after I left an honest review that I was contacted and asked to remove it. I was then bombarded with messages, excuses and demands to take the review down. I will not be removing it. I believe other potential guests have a right to know about our experience and make an informed decision before spending their money. We travelled three hours to stay here, so despite arriving to find the property was not ready, we waited patiently. We couldn’t even enter at the agreed check-in time because the property had not been prepared. We were also not allowed to put our food in the fridge to keep it cool while we waited. When we were eventually able to enter, the property was still filthy and clearly had not been properly cleaned or prepared. There were basic utensils missing, no tea towels or oven gloves, the hob was not working, random clutter was left in drawers and the property generally felt dirty, neglected and uncomfortable. The stairs leading to the mezzanine bedroom also require urgent attention and raised genuine safety concerns. £165 is simply not worth paying to stay in this standard of accommodation. What makes this even more disappointing is that the property itself has so much potential. It is quirky, spacious and in a beautiful location. With some genuine care, attention, proper cleaning and investment, this could be a dream property to stay in. I sincerely hope the owner takes on board the recommendations and concerns raised in the other reviews and actually addresses them. Unfortunately, based on our experience and the way our concerns were handled, we would not book again

I genuinely hope the owner takes on board the concerns and recommendations raised, both by us and by previous guests, and uses them as an opportunity to improve the property and the experience for future visitors. Unfortunately, the way my concerns were handled after the stay only added to my disappointment and reinforced my decision that I would not book this property again.

  Really enjoyed our family stay here, we were gutted it was only 1 night as a mid way point for our holiday, Mandy the host was amazing and was super fast communications and really helpful. The house was really well laid out with plenty of big beds and bedrooms. Perfect for us 2 adults, 3 kids and 2 dogs. I'd like to disagree with some reviews I'd seen about the property. It's a property that still has a little work left to do on it, but the host is more than open and honest about it, the house is still made to feel cosy and homely and it's a pretty fun experience going up the wooden steps to the beautiful atic bedroom. Internet was perfectly fine. Fridges and appliances all working perfectly fine. Property very suitable for dogs, and is dog proof to give piece of mind for owners to leave dogs unsupervised in the little garden. Area is amazing really nice pub a very short walk from the property. Lovely little walks by the river it is such a nice little hidden gem. Would gave gladly and happily stayed longer and will book again if we can!

  Stressful to find somewhere at short notice to stay

  After travelling over 3 and half hours, we got 10 minutes from the property and owner cancelled on us. We found it very difficult to find somewhere else to stay at short notice.
