Charming property with charming hosts in a charming town
The house is beautiful and the air conditioning is excellent. Breakfast is local and very fresh. Parking is close and free. Location on the edge of old town contributes to a more relaxing atmosphere as does the ambiance of the house. But the most important quality of Les Cordeliers is the atmosphere created by the hosts. Stephen was very attentive and offered much local information plus suggestions for our adventures each day (and made reservations for excellent dinners). This is where you want to stay when in Sarlat-la-Caneda.

Wish we could have had a few more days to spend here

When we thought we would be arriving by train we found it difficult (actually impossible) to book a taxi to meet us at the train station.

The property is a nicely restored old city villa, just across the street from the medieval town center. Everything was tastefully done - though more in a fusuon of modern and authentic 19th century (no complaints, just setting expectations). There is free public parking just a few minutes walking distance - on quiet streets. The room was very spacious, inviting, and you could tell that everything from the furniture to the aroma were thought of. It was an extremely comfortable stay. And the breakfast was an assortment of just the right amount and variety of local products and produce, all of which were very high quality and well presented. Finally, the host was extremely welcoming and nice to chat with, and always ready with the right pointers to get us where we wanted to go.
Soundproofing isn't great, but certainly above average for this sort of building, particularly given the thin wooden window frames. Still, you can clearly hear cars, bikes and the occasional construction in the streets below, which detracts from the experience.

Will be back. - didn’t stay long enough
Great location, free parking very close. Easy to get into the fringe of the old town without the difficulty of driving tight streets. The host is great for providing daily ideas of what to see and routes. Breakfast amazing
