  Fantastic escape for us and the dog - it really is a retreat

  The location was fantastic - abount 800 metres or so from the main road and surrounded by fields. Very peaceful. Lots of walks available. Great view of the Cathedral at night - it was in a great location. Fantastic use of their lovely field for the dog. Very dog friendly, enclosed garden although the gate was not lockable. Great hot tub. Lovely swing seat too. Bottle of champagne in the fridge., it was really nice champagne too. The host, Debbie, was wonderful and welcoming and gave you anything you needed. She gave us lots of information about things we'd asked about on the first night. She really looked after us. The utility room was a great provider of extra space to put stuff, it had a microwave, washing machine, iron. The bed was super comfy. Great shower. It was so quiet, no passing traffic or people the whole time we were there. One of the best things was the GHD hair straighteners provided. A great touch! They were better than the ones I brought with me so I used them instead!! We really loved this place, it was so peaceful and away from everything but still close enough to civilisation if you needed it. I'd love to live there to be honest!!

  Nothing really we didnt like - if we needed anything we just had to ask. I'm not sure it's geared up for cooking and washing up as I didnt have a sponge to wash up and there's no dishwasher but I guess that had I asked for a sponge/scourer I would have got one. I managed with the cloth that was there. More than two mugs would have been good too as a friend visited and there was only 2 mugs - there were 2 coffee mugs and 2 smaller tea cups which we used instead. But again had I asked for another mug I would have got one!! The gate at the side of the back yard would have given me more peace of mind if it was lockable - our dog didnt work out that had she pushed or pulled against it, it would have opened - and I had to check it was closed every day as some days it was left open. I was a bit worried about the dog getting out and wouldnt leave her out in the yard on her own, but it was a great space for her - with both pebbles and fake grass - and I dont mean it as a negative as it was really one of the best places we have stayed with the dog and it was perfect for us. Getting into the gate with the car was a bit of a challenge - i discovered that reversing up and into it was the best way - but there was a parking place outside on the road so it doesnt matter if you can't get through the gate, I just found loading and unloading easier with the car right up to the door.
