The view of the Acropolis from the large balcony is fantastic, and Kypseli is a trendy neighborhood with plenty of options for shopping, dining, and nightlife. The trip there went smoothly, and the host was friendly, even though the check-in information wasn’t sent until we asked for it. The apartment itself looked clean at first glance.

The main problem—we’ve never experienced anything like this with Booking before: BED BUGS. After our second night at the accommodation, we woke up with over 50 bites all over our bodies; a bug was crawling across the comforter, so unfortunately there was no doubt as to who the culprits were. The reason seems clear: Many of the furnishings are clearly worn out and outdated; presumably, the clean appearance is only superficial. Our concerns and complaint were acknowledged, but only to the extent that they wanted photos “for an expert”—which we provided. Despite multiple polite requests, there was no refund or other compensation, nor any information about whether they would actually take steps to spare other guests a similar experience. Finally, they said, “I’ll get back to you as soon as I have more info about the matter”—then nothing happened, meaning we’re being put off indefinitely and/or lied to. Other minor issues that have already been mentioned here: Unfortunately, there were no instructions for the hot water (it has to be turned on first and then comes out scalding hot) or for the air conditioning. Small amenities like tea or coffee, shampoo, or a hair dryer—which are pretty much standard these days—were missing. It’s a relatively long way to the city center, whether on foot or by bus/metro (more than 40 minutes). So the low price isn’t worth it; you can certainly find better options in Athens, especially ones hopefully free of parasites...

Balkony with amazing view on Acropolis. Great location. Very nice old design. It is quiet as it is last floor. Apartment is for 2 people, for 3 people is extremely uncomfortable.

Staff attitude. We booked apartment for 3 people. There was not bad linen for the 3rd person and the bedsheet was dirty. We reported it to the owner, but he insisted that everything was in the wardrobes. It wasn’t. Our son had to sleep under a blanket taken from the terrace. It’s a pity, because after such a wonderful stay, it left a bad memories.

The information provided was insufficient, and I often had to contact the host for clarification, yet their replies were slow. Several listed amenities were also unusable. Check-in: The pre-arrival information did not include my room number, so I had to contact the host again after arriving. Communication: Because important details such as check-in instructions and hot water usage were not shared, I had to reach out to the host multiple times. Even so, I did not receive a response for nearly 1.5 hours, and only after prompting did they reply. Amenities: • The hot water did not work. I contacted the host, who told me the gas supply needed to be turned on, but this was not mentioned beforehand nor indicated anywhere in the property. The power switch was hidden behind the entrance door and labeled in Greek (just small text saying “hotwater” in English), making it difficult to find on my own. Even after turning it on, it took about 30 minutes for hot water to be available. • I booked this property because it was supposed to have a washing machine, but there was no detergent, and the machine did not work—possibly broken. • There were sections of the floorboards that were damaged, and I almost injured my foot. • The entrance had high steps that made it difficult to carry a suitcase, but no prior information was given. I had to lift and carry my heavy luggage myself. • The elevator was very old (manual door operation required) and the buttons were only labeled in Greek, which made it difficult to operate.
