  The spa facilities are of a high standard for the UK. The hydro pool is warm and the outside part is very tranquil when on your own. The service was generally as expected for a 5 star establishment, although the standard of the staff ranged from poor to fantastic. The grounds are a plus point- relaxing with plenty of walks to do. If you are into horses, the equestrian facilities are a bonus.

  Lots of minior and one major issue. When we arrived at 3pm the room wasn't ready so we had to wait around 20 to 30 mins. However, the check out time was extended from 11 to 12 as a gesture of goodwill. However, there were too many staff and guests milling around, making check in a poor and chaotic experience. The spa, although excellent overall, had one steam room closed. There were also lots of screaming toddlers so if you want complete peace and quiet as an adult, look elsewhere. As per usual, some guests thought it ok to bring their kids into the adult only hydro pool, despite the fact that the staff made it clear on check in what the rules were. Room was supposed to be a twin, but it was a single headboard and just a coupld of zip link type singles pushed together. The room was tiny. There was a small brown stain on the blind and a couple of hairs in the bathroom. The guests upstairs could be heard banging around. On to the biggest issue- the food. We eat out regularly and my partner comes from a hospitality background, with her father and brother's being chefs. We eat out at michelin guide/star restaurants quite often. The Walled Garden is way below the standard you would expect at an establishment like this. Dry, cold bread, rock hard butter, focaccia that was also dry and uninspiring and the worst was the tiny chicken for £30. Supposedly half a roast chicken, more like a sparrow. My partner's burger was average. The salmon skewers were poor quality and tasted of burnt fat. Don't get me started on the wine. When their second most expensive red by the glass is a 3.5 on Vivino from 100 or 200 reviews, you know they are not taking quality seriously. Really poor choice for a 5 star. Woke up at 4am starving, although to their credit, they did offer another sparrow size chicken breast (needed 4 or 5 really). The lads behind the bar were great and a credit to the hotel.

  the essence of british flair & culture

  ein wunderschönes stilvolles landhaus-manor, sehr geschmackvoll, luxuriös und gepflegt mit exzellentem service. für UNS war die lage perfekt, weil wir eine hochzeit in der gegend hatten. aufgrund dessen konnten wir leider nicht das volle kulinarische angebot geniessen und alle freizeitmöglichkeiten nutzen. ein ebenfalls mitgereister onkel hatte spontan jeweil 1 session archery und axtwerfen gebucht. sehr aussergewöhnlich, spannend & lustig!!! next time in der gegend wollte ich jedenfalls dezidiert ein paar urlaubstage mehr einplanen, um auch das hotel, mit all seinem angebot und die gegend mit den kulturellen und möglichkeiten zu nutzenundganz in die britische countraside -kultur eunzutauchen: dezidiert eine reise wert!!! car rental aber empfiehlt sich

  never complain,never explain! ;-) <3 . sorry-this is just a black humour joke- angesteckt vom britischen understatement !!! das einzige, dass wir bedauern ist, nicht genug zeit eingeplant zu haben, das wundervolle angebot zu nutzen!!!
