    The location is beautiful and well placed for hiking in the north of the island. The house itself is spacious and has two bathrooms. The host's team responded quickly to messages and arranged a plumber when we reported a problem.

    The listing does not mention that there is a large construction site directly next to the property. This is not occasional roadworks — there is an official municipal notice posted at the site (Câmara Municipal de São Vicente, process OU.LC 63/23) showing the licence was issued in April 2025 and the works run until December 2026. So this will affect stays for a long time yet. On the one day when bad weather kept us indoors, the noise made the house genuinely unpleasant to be in. If you plan to be out hiking all day this may not matter much; if you want to spend time at the property, be aware. Other things worth knowing: - Two live cockroaches greeted us in the house on arrival. - The exterior doors do not seal properly. We had 2–3 lizards inside every single day. - The house smelled of damp when we walked in, and the dehumidifier had been left running with a full tank. - The drain in the upstairs bathroom was blocked, backing up water onto the floor. We reported it; the plumber confirmed it needed more significant work, which was scheduled after our departure. We simply stopped using that bathroom. - A rooster nearby crows around 4:30 a.m. and wakes the house. That is rural Madeira and fair enough, but it is worth knowing before you book. When we raised the construction issue, the response was that it is outside the host's control. That is true of the noise itself, but the works were licensed and publicly documented years before our booking, and none of it appears in the listing. For nearly EUR 2,000 a week, I would have expected to be told.

    Frumos

    Apartamentul este dotat cu tot ce ai nevoie, foarte frumos amenajat, curat. Parte de priveliște extraordinara.

    Are vedere la cimitir și salteaua din dormitorul principal nu este confortabilă.
