Historical building, full of period pieces. Bed was extremely squeaky, which stopped us sleeping unfortunately!!

Maison Mouton: Wonderful Hospitality, but Too Many Shortcomings We genuinely loved our host, kind, knowledgeable and so so helpful and appreciated the warm, friendly hospitality. Unfortunately, the accommodation itself left quite a bit to be desired. Perhaps I am not familiar enough with the bed-and-breakfast of southern historical buildings concept, but several things were simply unacceptable to us. The room was old and not particularly well maintained. The sliding doors were stuck and could not be closed properly. The floors and bed were extremely noisy, and there was no lighting in the stairwell during the evening. The bathroom was equally disappointing. It lacked basic amenities and standard bathroom accessories, only one water tap was functioning, and the bathtub itself was made of plastic. Overall, the bathroom felt rather outdated and fell short of the standards we would expect from guest accommodation in 2026. Breakfast was another disappointment. It was served only at 8:30 a.m., with no flexibility. Each guest received one plate with an egg and a biscuit, accompanied by a piece of meat one morning and gravy the next. Although jam and butter were on the table, no additional bread or toast was offered. We had expected a little more from a bed and breakfast, especially regarding breakfast. What concerned us most was the situation in the evening. When we wanted to leave, we couldn't open the back door. Even another couple who tried to help us couldn't manage it. We eventually had to use the front entrance, which was poorly lit, and simply hope we would be able to get back in later. There was also no host or staff present overnight, leaving guests entirely on their own. Combined with the door problems and inadequate lighting, this was rather uncomfortable. Maison Mouton certainly has charm, and the hospitality was genuinely lovely.
