A Special Thank You to Mary I would like to express my sincere appreciation to Mary from the reception team, who demons
Makunudu Maldives is an absolutely beautiful resort. The charming bungalows, pristine beach, wonderful house reef and peaceful surroundings make it a truly special destination. The housekeeping and reception teams also deserve recognition for their excellent work.
Unfortunately, the restaurant service was an absolute disgrace and completely unacceptable for a resort of this standard. During our stay, my mother and I experienced some of the most disrespectful and unprofessional treatment I have ever encountered in the hospitality industry. On one occasion, we wanted to have lunch in one of the quieter side sections of the restaurant. A waiter immediately rushed towards us and informed us, in very broken English, that we were not allowed to sit there because those tables were, in his exact words, “for sick people.” Not only was this an extremely inappropriate and insensitive way to refer to guests with mobility difficulties, but there was absolutely no signage explaining that these tables were designated for such guests. They were simply marked “Reserved.” We respected the instruction and moved elsewhere. However, I subsequently noticed that while one guest was using crutches, other guests seated at the neighbouring reserved tables showed no obvious signs of mobility difficulties. That evening, we attempted to sit in the same section again, only to be immediately stopped and refused once more. What makes this situation particularly outrageous is that my own mother has considerable and visibly obvious difficulty walking. Her mobility difficulties were apparent to anyone paying even the slightest attention. It does not take medical training or a formal announcement to recognise that someone is struggling to walk. Anyone with eyes could see it. I should not have had to inform the restaurant staff about my mother’s physical limitations or disclose her personal health circumstances simply to receive basic consideration and respectful treatment. In fact, when I subsequently raised the issue with Mary from reception, she immediately acknowledged that my mother’s mobility difficulties were clearly noticeable, without needing any further explanation.

Beautifully quiet and relaxing break.
It’s small, quiet and not pretentious. Staff friendly and the privacy for each bungalow is exceptional. Beautiful snorkelling on site as a naturally formed island.
