Appalling
€4,000+ for an apartment where the electricity tripped every 15 minutes — eight days of silence, followed by claims we can disprove We paid over €4,000 for this stay. The electricity was tripping approximately every 15 minutes. The air conditioning was not functioning properly at night during August in southern Spain. My mother-in-law slipped and fell after the lights went out while she was bathing our child. We contacted the property about these problems and an electrican walked in, couldn't speak English and walked out within 3 minutes. The electricity continued to trip. We contacted them on day 3. They did not respond. For eight days, they did not respond to us at all. We also requested the official Andalusian Hoja de Quejas y Reclamaciones. They did not respond to that request either. Their silence was considerably more dependable than the electricity. After eight days of ignoring the guests who had paid more than €4,000 to stay in their property, the owner eventually responded to Booking.com. Their response contained claims about what happened during our stay that we dispute and have evidence to contradict. Among other things, it was suggested that the electrical problems resulted from us having everything running at once. We did not have everything running at once. We have contemporaneous evidence from the stay, including our communications and documentation of what was happening. That evidence can be considered alongside the owner's version of events. The owner managed to provide explanations to Booking.com after the event, yet did not respond to the guests actually inside the apartment experiencing the problems for eight days. Had they responded at the time, they could have asked what appliances were being used. They could have investigated. They could have offered instructions. They could have sent someone to inspect the problem. They did none of those things.
