Very clean and comfortable

Fully met our expectations, and justified selecting Martin Hill Inn to stay at.
Easy place to find. Wonderful period inn built in the 19th century. A beautiful garden with occasional sitting areas in tranquil surroundings. Our room was very well appointed, with a comfortable bed and excellent bathroom. It was well presented with a fine decor and represented very good value for our needs.

Charming stay in a nice New England town.
Very quaint and charming. Liked the self checkin. The grounds were very nice as was location.
The stairs to the room were quite steep. So would not recommend for anyone with mobility issues.

From a Last-Minute Cancellation to the Best Decision of Our Wedding Weekend
Booked on a whim in August 2026 after a last-minute cancellation opened up two and it turned out to be one of the best decisions of our wedding weekend. We used it as our getting-ready suite for the whole bridal party, and the location could not have been more perfect. The garden was absolutely stunning, and we ended up doing our first look and bridal party photos right there, the photos came out breathtaking, all thanks to that setting. It was quiet and no one bothered us while we took up space in the garden for 40 minutes. What really stood out was the team. I called the managers directly to ask about booking, and they were so responsive and helpful from that very first call. On the day itself, they were present without being intrusive, checking in, asking if we needed anything, making sure everything ran smoothly. It was seamless from start to finish. We couldn’t have asked for a better stay or a better experience to get ready for our wedding. We’re already looking forward to coming back for our anniversary.

I had the most amazing stay here. My room felt incredibly cozy and I appreciated all the thoughtful amenities. I was traveling solo and felt safe in the area. It's just a quick ten minute walk to downtown Portsmouth.
