Staff freindly and helpful
Rooms are old and worn, tired furniture, stained carpets, you can hear everything, even the room next door boiling the kettle, Tv"s, people walking past the room, inter connecting door being tried all night, lack of sleep, poor quality for the price you pay. Premier inn is better quality and you know what your getting

Tidy - staff good but watch your bill. No effort made to compensate.
Location for my needs
Charged me twice by mistake although I had pre paid. Mistakes happen I suppose. Then on my bill I was charged for a drink I defiantly didn’t have. Spoilt the stay a bit.

Pleasant but I wouldnt rush to stay there again.
I stayed for one night on business and wasn’t prepared for just how dated the rooms would be. The downstairs areas are pleasant, with a nice bar, but the rest of the hotel feels stuck in a time warp and would really benefit from refurbishment. As a solo female traveller, I didn’t feel comfortable in a room with an interconnecting door, so I asked to move. The staff were helpful and quickly arranged another room, which I appreciated.
The lights in my room flickered and were positioned directly above the bed, making the lighting unpleasant. Some bedside lamps would make a real difference. The room telephone also didn’t work, and the heating had to be switched on by reception. This meant walking back and forth to the desk to get it sorted, which was inconvenient. I called a few days after my stay to get a copy of the invoice and the staff member out rightly lied to me about sending an email and the back tracked on the lie when caught out. This lack of professionalism is not what I expect at a Mercure.
