Arrived at this accommodation at 1pm, being unaware that check in was 4pm (my oversight) Was pouring with rain and we had just hiked from Carlisle The landlady was clearly annoyed that we had arrived early as the room was not ready. I fully understood that the room was not ready, not a problem, but I would assume that if you choose to do business in the hospitality business that your response to the early arrival of a customer would be better than…go back out into the pouring rain for the next three hours..bear in mind that this accommodation is in the middle of nowhere, so our only option was to walk around in the rain for 3 hours, or sit in a very damp looking outdoor covered area, which the landlady generously said we could wait in. We decided that the best use of the 3 hours we had available to us was by walking to our following days destination of Bowness, were we found nice accommodation and a very hospitable host. I’m unable to give any review of the accommodation, as I never set foot in side.
