Clean, cozy, but not what I was expecting from the advertisement.
The apartment was very clean and very cozy.
It wasn't a lodge at all. It's a 2-bedroom apartment on the third floor of an old stone house that has been turned in to several apartments. There was no one there to check us in. To access the apartment there are 3 flights of very old wooden narrow steps - the entry way into the building was not inviting. It was dark and musty with an open window letting the elements in. Upon reaching the apartment the door was unlocked and the key was sitting on the kitchen counter. After closing the door I noticed there were 3-4 deadbolt locks on the inside. For two women traveling alone, it didn't give a very safe impression. As well, the apartment smelled musty. The apartment was very clean and was very cozy. But that's where it stops. Knowing we would be coming home late that night after a concert I did not feel safe staying so we contacted the owner. He gave us instructions on locking the apartment and leaving the key in a lockbox. I did not request a refund as it was my choice to leave. However, I do believe the description of the rental should be more transparent. Maybe some pictures of the outside of the building. An elderly person would never have made it up the steps. Why are there so many locks on the door? A woman staying there alone, or a couple of women, wouldn't feel safe walking into the building at night with the dimly lit stairwell and open window. Very disappointed.
