  ⚠️ BEWARE - SERIOUS BURN INJURY. NO ACCOUNTABILITY TAKEN BY 'VACATIONY'. POLICE REPORT FILED.

  As a frequent traveller, I STRONGLY WARN GUESTS AGAINST BOOKING APARTMENTS MANAGED BY THE COMPANY 'VACATIONY'. A nice-looking apartment means nothing, if basic safety is not addressed when it matters most. Their employee, Fabio openly said "even if you put an online review, we are a big company, we don't care". 'VACATIONY' in Porto are CRIMINAL. A 7-day family vacation with my mother (recently recovered from cancer) & my sister, turned into a nightmare involving a serious burn injury, a dangerously hot exposed pipe, 7 days without hot water, mold & promises of compensation - never honoured. 1. SEVERE BURN INJURY FROM A DANGEROUSLY HOT METAL PIPE On our very 1st night, I suffered a serious burn after my arm touched the exposed metal pipe in the bathroom. This was NOT the shower water - it was the actual exposed metal pipe. The contact caused a deep hole in my arm & severe burn, I required medical treatment & antibiotics. The injury was described by the doctor as 2nd & 3rd degree burns. On Day 3, Fabio (who described himself as the face of Vacationy & a popular rapper) visited & tested the shower. He acknowledged the pipe was dangerously hot & hazardous. Kitchen utensils stored in a cupboard next to the boiler were becoming extremely hot. A maintenance person visited later & advised us that this is a serious health & safety hazard, that the apt was not suitable for living in these conditions. I later found reports from guests who had also been burned. This raises serious questions about similar incidents that had occurred before & why such a dangerous situation had not been addressed. 2. NO HOT WATER, 7 DAYS - PROMISED REPAIR NEVER HAPPENED Fabio turned off hot water as the boiler temperature could not be lowered. We were told to remain at the apt to wait for a technician who was supposed to replace the boiler, waited days for this promised repair, but the boiler was never replaced.

  We missed all our tourist visits, our time in Porto was completely wasted. I was dealing with a painful injury, fever, taking antibiotics & waiting for a resolution that never came. Our vacation was effectively ruined. Having to spend a holiday dealing with a serious injury and an unresolved safety issue is completely unacceptable. 3. PROMISED REFUND, MEDICAL EXPENSES, EXTRA NIGHTS, COMPENSATION - NOTHING DELIVERED During his visit, Fabio promised: 1) An immediate refund of our stay. 2) Agreed to cover the medical expenses I had incurred, and an activation of a claim from their insurance company. 3) Offered three additional nights as a goodwill gesture. 4) Additional compensation for the injury suffered. NONE OF THIS WAS ULTIMATELY HONOURED. We followed up repeatedly but were left without any response. Fabio said the owner needed to send the email confirming the arrangements (tactic to buy time), but that email never arrived. Fabio, Giovanna, Vacationy, stopped responding. Making promises to a guest who has suffered a serious injury & then failing to follow through is a criminal way to handle a safety incident, we realized they were just waiting for us to leave. 4. MOLD Significant mold problem. Other guests had complaints like leaking showers & mold, showing the low maintenance standard & how guests are handled. They were met with the same experience, where a resolution was promised & no action was taken. 5. I requested the OFFICIAL COMPLAINTS BOOK, but was ignored for 3 days, despite contacting the official chat many times. I received it only after a local friend called them & said we are going to the police station. Over 15 hours with Booking.com & VACATIONY calls disconnected & no callbacks. I suffered a serious burn, daily medical treatment, antibiotics, had no hot water for 7 days, mold, no solution. No guest should have to suffer to get a response after an injury. MY STRONG ADVICE: THINK CAREFULLY BEFORE BOOKING.

  Could not ask for a better stay..

  The location 300 steps from main rail line, 400 steps to metro, supermarket across road, good views. Very airy apartment

  Came back twice to find street front door had been left unlocked by someone else. Needs a sign to ensure they pull behind them
