This has NOTHING to do with a ryokan experience.
The actual room was nice.
You pay £500 for a hotel at Mt. Fuji, you expect Japanese vibes all around, and instead you find black walls, loud American pop music in the restaurant, forks in a plastic box on the table, and the worst ramen in Japan. This place was so disappointing in so many ways. It felt like wasted money. It literally killed the vibe of our whole trip. I felt like I was eating in my high school gym hall. Dinner was bad, and breakfast was even worse. It took us a whole day to digest whatever we ate. 4-star hotel restaurant, and you cannot even get a normal coffee, as there is no coffee machine. The actual room was nice, with a sauna and a bathtub on the balcony, though the bathtub is so small you have to take turns. It took more than 1 hour to figure out how it worked because there is no English information, and the staff can't communicate. There is no phone in the room. only way to communicate with them is via WhatsApp. This isn't what I expect from a 4-star hotel where I paid £500 for ONE night. The title on Booking said "Ryokan"... this has NOTHING to do with a ryokan experience. It was supposed to be the highlight of our honeymoon, and instead it was the worst night. Please do not waste your money on this hotel.

nordic cuisine was phenomenal at the hotel. get the stay with the food its worth a try. amenities were just as great!
