Excellent value for money and great location for Yala.
Perfect hotel if you are coming for a safari in Yala. The room was basic but clean, with good a/c. The swimming pool is great and very welcome after a hot day in the park. This is exceptional value for money.

Avoid this place
The owner is the classic example of a Sri Lanka tourist hustler. The main attraction is the Yala safari, he will offer you a half day safari for 19k rupees, full day for 24k. It's a shared safari and he will not let you pay the guide directly, because he will take a commission which isn't small when I compared it with other people on the ride (who went through their hotels as well). When paying at the end of my stay he tried to do his own currency conversion to get even more money, but the moment I showed him the price in rupees from the Booking app he stopped that immediately. The room had mold on the walls, really bad smelling AC, the shower had zero to no pressure, even cockroaches coming out in the night from under the bed. The "balcony" was a smoking area where anyone staying could go, so I had to keep the curtains drawn at all times to have some privacy. When I asked for drinkable water, there were 2 choices - pay for bottled or the owner will refill your bottle with filtered water from the tap. Guess it wasn't filtered because I got quite sick from it (I've been on this Island for over 2 months, so I know when I get sick from the water). The whole place looked like a mess.
