This property will not accommodate hen, stag or similar parties. We can provide a mild allergic diet. But our most dishes include fish stock, soy and wheat(gluten), we cannot change them. We cannot change the small amount of egg, chicken, or nut extract contained in the seasoning. We use the same oil we use to fry shrimp, crab, and fish routinely to cook meals. The property's shuttle bus leaves JR Takayama Station at the following times: 13:30, 14:30, 15:30, 16:30, 17:30 To use the hotel's free shuttle, please make a reservation at least 1 day in advance and specify at which time guests would like to take the shuttle. Contact details can be found on the booking confirmation. Guests without a dinner meal plan can check-in until 22:00. The hotel has a curfew at 23:00. Guests cannot enter or leave the hotel after this time. A deposit may be required at the property.

    Incredible Stay with Amazing Breakfast and Dinner!

    Our stay at this ryokan was by far the highlight of our 16 day trip in Japan. Go to the meals hungry. They were INCREDIBLE. Both breakfast and dinner were highlights of the stay for sure. For many visitors this is obvious, but be prepared that the only showers/baths you will get are the shared onsens.

    Highlight of our Japan Trip - Have dinner if you can!

    This stay was the highlight of our two week trip to Japan! They were so kind and welcoming to us and we loved our room and the hot baths downstairs! We also had the most delicious dinner and breakfasts in the tatami mat dining room. We’ve never been so full - in the best way! Highly recommend this place.

    Beautiful onsen and hotel

    Just a lovely hotel/onsen a 10 minute walk from the center of town. The rooms were clean, large and nicely appointed, and the staff were incredibly kind and friendly. The food was amazing. The onsen was very nice; on the men’s side there was one warm pool and one smaller hot tub. We would stay there again in a heartbeat!

    My last days in Japan

    I wouldn’t be lying if I said that Oyado Yamakyu is the hotel where I’ve been treated the best. The service from the staff is impeccable; they are very friendly and make you feel right at home. The food is incredible, with fresh, local products. Something that caught my attention was the tranquility that fills the air, which, combined with the hotel’s decor, made it a very special experience. If you visit Takayama, I highly recommend going, you won't regret ;)

    Perfect place to stay in Takayama -- a highlight of our trip

    My family enjoyed a wonderful stay at Oyado Yamakyu in July 2023. There were 5 of us: three adults and two children -- age 10 and 12 -- staying in 2 rooms. We stayed two nights, and it was our favorite stay of our 16 day trip. Everything about Oyado Yamakyu was wonderful -- staff were welcoming and helpful, and very kind to our children. The location was perfect with easy access to sights, restaurants, etc. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The baths were lovely. The food was amazing. Because we were there for two nights, they provided a different meal experience on the second night. I really can't recommend this place enough.
