Lovely quiet location away from the noise and bustle of Pai central, but still only a 250m walk to Walking Street. As a couple in our mid-50s who love being outdoors and hunting down good street food, this place hit the sweet spot for us. We stayed in one of the riverside bungalows and woke up every morning to the sound of the river and birds instead of scooters and bars. The grounds are well kept, shady, and peaceful — perfect for a morning coffee on the deck or an evening stroll. Staff were friendly and helpful without being over the top, and the whole place has that relaxed, low-key vibe we were looking for after a few busier nights in town. Breakfast was fabulous — fresh fruit, good coffee, and tasty cooked options that set us up perfectly for a day of exploring. Being so close to Walking Street meant we could wander out for dinner whenever we felt like it — grilled meats, fresh papaya salad, mango sticky rice — then walk straight back to the quiet of the retreat. No long tuk-tuk rides, no noise at night. Just a short, easy walk and we were in the middle of Pai’s food scene, then home again in minutes. If you’re after a peaceful base that still keeps you connected to the fun of Pai without the chaos, The Riverside Retreat is an excellent choice. We’ll happily come back next time we’re in the area.

Best stay in our trip!
The staff were incredibly kind and welcoming, making us feel right at home. The location is fantastic, and you can really see the attention to detail throughout the entire village, from the cottages to the beautiful outdoor spaces. The bed was super comfortable, and our cottage had everything we needed. There were always complimentary drinks and little snacks available, which was such a lovely touch. And the breakfast was absolutely delicious, with so many options to choose from! We really enjoyed our stay!
